About Claire

A fascination for the soothing rhythms of repetition began whilst studying for a degree in woven textile design. More recently, Claire’s attention has shifted from the constructed textile to the constructed and layered image.

The sources for these visual works are selected fragments and details from the surrounding environment such as plant forms and shadows. Forms may be so minute that they escape the eye whilst other sources can be fleeting, existing only as a moment in time. She suggests:

These fragments of ornate beauty
become simultaneously intimate and majestic
when woven together to create a layered image.
